The Cynomolgus Monkey
Macaca fascicularis
The cynomolgus macaque is the most widely used non-human primate in biomedical research, valued for its close physiological and immunological similarity to humans.
With over 60% genetic homology for key immune receptors, cynomolgus monkeys provide highly translatable data for drug development, making them ideal for immunology, infectious disease, and toxicology studies.
Human Similarity
~93% genetic homology with extensive immune receptor cross-reactivity
Global Availability
Multiple geographic origins with established breeding colonies
Regulatory Accepted
FDA & EMA preferred species for biologics safety assessment

Common Research Applications
Cynomolgus Monkey RNA are research-grade cynomolgus macaque total RNA intended for preclinical and translational research. Each order includes a Certificate of Analysis (COA) with lot-specific information and handling details to support consistency across studies.
Common applications
- Histology / IHC and pathology workflows
- Transcriptomics, proteomics, and multi-omics
- Biomarker discovery and validation
- Preclinical translational research support
- Tissue-based drug distribution studies
Collection, processing & handling
Tissue is collected and processed with protocols designed to preserve downstream histology and molecular workflows. Available formats include fresh, frozen, OCT-embedded, or FFPE as appropriate. Cold-chain logistics with documented handling throughout.
Quality control & documentation
QC testing options available on request, including material-appropriate analytical checks and extended documentation. Standard documentation includes collection/processing metadata, lot identifiers, and chain-of-custody records. Custom QC panels can be configured for GLP or regulatory-facing studies.

Geographic Origins Guide
Select the optimal origin for your research requirements
Chinese Origin ★ MOST COMMON
mainland
Chinese-origin cynomolgus are no longer exported by China. Cynomolgus macaques are not native to China and were historically imported from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia. Current samples are sourced from US breeding colonies established from China-line imports.
Mauritian Origin ★ DEFINED GENETICS
island
Mauritian cynomolgus have limited MHC diversity due to founder effects, making them valuable for immunology studies requiring genetic consistency.
Cambodian Origin ★ SOUTHEAST ASIAN
mainland
Cambodian-origin animals offer a Southeast Asian source with genetics that have not been mixed with other country lineages in the same way seen in some China-line populations.
Vietnamese Origin ★ SOUTHEAST ASIAN
mainland
Vietnamese cynomolgus provide another Southeast Asian option for programs that require distinct lineage sourcing or supply chain diversification.
Indonesian Origin ★ ISLAND ORIGIN
island
Indonesian-origin cynomolgus were among the earliest origins used in preclinical research and represented one of the largest research populations before China entered the market.
Philippine Origin ★ ISLAND ORIGIN
island
Philippine-origin cynomolgus were one of the first origins used broadly in research, with a long history as a trusted and widely used model.

Total RNA is provided with RIN (RNA Integrity Number) ≥ 7.0 as measured by Agilent Bioanalyzer. Spectrophotometric purity: 260/280 ratio of 1.8-2.1 and 260/230 ratio ≥ 1.5. Bioanalyzer electropherogram data is included with each lot.
Our total RNA is suitable for: RT-qPCR, RNA-seq (mRNA-seq, total RNA-seq), microarray analysis, Northern blotting, and in vitro translation. For single-cell or spatial transcriptomics, fresh tissue may be more appropriate than extracted RNA.
Store at -80°C. Use RNase-free technique throughout handling. Thaw on ice and aliquot to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. RNA in RNase-free water is stable for years at -80°C. For short-term storage, -20°C is acceptable for up to 1 month.
Total RNA is available from all major tissues: liver, brain, kidney, heart, lung, spleen, intestine, and more. Tissue-specific RNA yields vary significantly. Contact us for specific tissue availability and expected yields.
Each lot includes: RIN value (Bioanalyzer), spectrophotometric data (260/280, 260/230, concentration), total yield, and source tissue information. Bioanalyzer electropherogram images are provided.
