Preadipocytes are precursors of fat cells. They are determined by the expression of PREF-1 and CD105; and also, the absence of CD45 and CD31. These cells typically derive from fat tissue; and therefore, often referred to as Adipose tissue derived Stem Cells (ASCs).¹
